Aim of the training

The aim of the training is to familiarise Ukrainians with the environmental impact assessment system functioning in the European Union. EIA is the fundamental tool for environmental protection in an investment process. An EIA procedure will be required when obtaining financing for the rebuilding of Ukraine from, for example, the EU, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, etc.

NOTE: The training is given in English.

Who is the training addressed to?

The training is addressed to the citizens of Ukraine who speak English, especially to:

·        university representatives,

·        administration

·        and other interested representatives of various disciplines,

who may be involved in the process of rebuilding Ukraine in terms of environmental protection, within the context of the requirements that enterprises financed using the resources of the EU and various international financing institutions must meet.

Knowledge of environmental protection and large-scale investments preparation procedures might be useful.

Initial training schedule

The training takes 8 hours in total, including two planned coffee breaks and one lunch break.

Subject blocks
1.     EIA system in the EU – basic legal acts, guidelines and handbooks – approx. 2 hours.

2.     The most important elements of an EIA procedure within the context of financing institutions requirements – approx. 2 hours.

3.     Sharing information and public consultations – approx. 2 hours.

Training date and price

The first training (in-person or on-line, depending on interest) is planned for the end of April this year.

Training price – EURO 400.

Other important information

The aim of the proposed training is to familiarise the citizens of Ukraine with the most important issues of the EIA system functioning in the EU within the context of seeking financing.

The team at EKO-KONSULT Sp. z o.o. has also prepared a series of expert texts on the broad issue of environmental protection that will be posted on https://ekokonsult.pl in Polish and English every 2-3 weeks.

Depending on how much interest the Ukrainian side shows, more extensive trainings on EIA required by financing institutions are also planned, with the ultimate goal of organising a post-graduate Programme with universities from Gdańsk.
